James Zollar (Winter 2015)

New York trumpeter James Zollar has played with some of the foremost ensembles in the world, including the Duke Ellington Band and the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra. He is a current member of the Count Basie Orchestra.

Mr. Zollar originally hails from Kansas City, and studied trumpet with Woody Shaw in San Francisco. His career took him to San Diego for several years before he moved to New York.

In November of 2015, James Zollar visited Calgary and taught clinics at several area schools. He then played with the Calgary Creative Arts Ensemble in their performance of the Ellington/Strayhorn Nutcracker Suite.
